And Now … Real Merchandise
Two sisters. Two very different perspectives. One unlikely brand.
So, how did we “become” Red & Black (besides our hair color)? And what’s this store all about? Because none of us need more useless “stuff” …
Well, it all started when Red, a warm and fuzzy mom, had a “crisis” (her word, not Black’s) and turned to her pragmatic big sister, Black, a retired corporate executive. She was hoping for a quick fix. Or, at least, a little sympathy.
Instead, Black gave her a wake-up call, “Grow up.” Not exactly what Red wanted, but exactly what she needed.
Black helped her sister see things differently and watched as Red gained the confidence to take control of her life instead of her life controlling her. Along the way, turning it into a book, a brand, a business. And now merchandise … because we’ve seen how our messages (and memorable quotes from Black) have made a difference. Not only for Red. But for her daughters. And then for others.
Meaningful Merchandise?!
Even though Red has “been there, done that” — she admits sometimes she needs reminders. She loves how each piece of merchandise is designed to both amuse and inspire better decisions. Especially since, over the years, we’ve seen the power of combining humor, wisdom, and practical advice for everyday living. And we realized when you share what helped you, the ripple effect can be enormous. So, while our merchandise may be new, our messaging is not.
Made In The USA ... Not Just Words
Red never thought about buying American-made products until Black insisted that our book be printed in the USA (even though it doubled the cost). Why? Because “Made In America” is more than a slogan, it’s a commitment. Some people told us we were crazy. We didn’t care — we took a deep breath and followed our hearts. And we’ve never regretted the decision. In fact, whenever possible, all our merchandise will be … Made in the USA.
Discover A New Perspective?
We can’t help providing two different perspectives … Red is a self-proclaimed “mere mortal” mom who’s warm and fuzzy, and all about feelings. While Black (her children are “race cars”) is all business, the ultimate pragmatic who can be painfully blunt (and often sarcastic). There’s rarely just one way to look at things — so we hope our two-sided approach helps you see things differently so you can decide what’s best for you.
What’s in store for you?
Some advice. Some amusement. All Red & Black.
